« A SENSE OF PROPORTION »
Sustainable development at the heart of the company?
(Event)

On Thursday, September 19, economist Eugénie Joltreau spoke in her capacity as an economist and member of BSI Economics to discuss the place of sustainable development in the business world. Below is a brief summary of the conference (source: DFCG, 2019):
« The Brittany and Pays-de-la-Loire regions stand out for their societal dimension and the cohesion of their social environment. The high rate of membership in associations, their maritime orientation, and their relationship with climatic events make them regions that are entirely focused on a future compatible with the human activity of our time. Whatdo we want in a world focused on initiative and entrepreneurship? Must we resign ourselves to limiting ourselves with increasingly stringent environmental constraints?
Is there no way to reconcile all these constraints by considering them as opportunities for sustainable growth? Shouldn’t we organize this ecosystem in both the public and private spheres?
Together with Philippe Marest, CEO of Ecological Transition, Energy, and Urban Services at Nantes Métropole, she discussed the principle of the circular economy and its definition at the local level, as well as its link to the United Nations’ sustainable development goals.
Eugénie Joltreau is currently preparing a thesis on the circular economy at Paris Dauphine University.
BSI Economics is partnering as a Knowledge Partner in a series of four regional meetings on « the meaning of measurement » in Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, and Lille, organized by the French National Association of Financial and Management Control Directors (DFCG) and Walter France. A summary of the discussions is scheduled to be presented at Financium on December 10 and 11, 2019, in Paris.
