2018 Activity Report

2018 was marked by a gradual increase in our contribution to public debate. Our team worked actively to raise the profile of BSI Economics through new information channels, a transition that was accompanied by sustained interest from professionals and public decision-makers.

This year was marked by notable projects that provided us with exceptional leverage to build a long-term strategy. BSI Economics is gradually establishing itself in the French political and economic arena as a think tank that is listened to. At the end of the first half of the year, BSI Economics initiated a collaboration project, within a very short timeframe, with the Evaluation and Control Mission of the Finance Committee of the National Assembly as part of its mission on private investment in the ecological transition, on the basis of which three members were heard on June 28, 2018. Reflections on the determination of a mileage scale were also submitted on November 6, 2018. The publication of a collaborative work entitled « Je comprends (enfin) l’économie » (I (finally) understand economics), published by Dunod, is another vehicle for disseminating our think tank’s approach.

BSI Economics’ strength remains its dynamic collective of around 60 economists with a variety of specializations who are committed to the success of our organization. We would like to express our gratitude to them for this. It is this internal cohesion that we wish to consolidate.

On this basis, 2019 will not be a turning point: it will be the continuation of a comprehensive approach to editorial development, which will necessarily require ongoing work and the involvement of all our members.

The first project of this new year is to strengthen the visibility and attractiveness of our organization among the media and public decision-makers. The BSI Economics team will be working throughout the first half of the year to modernize its website and thus make this environment more conducive to the effective dissemination and promotion of our work. Experience in previous years has also highlighted the need to provide clear and up-to-date editorial tools that can address a wider range of research topics. This improvement is particularly important when BSI Economics has to address current issues in response to external needs. The continuation of BSI Economics’ partnerships through the consolidation of synergies between think tanks, public decision-makers, and/or professionals will enable us to accelerate this research effort in areas that contribute to public debate.

Finally, the management team is continuing its sustained efforts to ensure transparency and efficiency in its governance, which is the responsibility of each and every one of us. This internal work is a prerequisite for the successful achievement of the above objectives.
