A meeting point between the academic and economic worlds

The aim of the Sorbonne Economic Forums is to renew economic debate. We want to promote knowledge sharing between generations and the sharing of experiences between the academic sphere and the business world. Too often, these different stakeholders are at odds with each other, when in fact they are all necessary to decipher major trends. This event also provides an opportunity for the University to continue to open up to the general public in order to contribute to debates and reach as wide an audience as possible. It should be noted that during the 2021 edition, the Forums brought together 1,500 participants on site and remotely, generating more than 100,000 interactions on social media.

In planning the event and selecting speakers, the Forums’ executive team relied in particular on its partners, namely:

  • European Investment Fund (EIF)
  • ADES Sorbonne
  • Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University
  • Kiel Institute for the World Economy
  • Pour l’Eco
  • B SMART

Registration is available on the Sorbonne Economic Forumswebsite.

Why « Back to the Future »?

For more than two years, public and economic policies have been reinvented to meet the challenge of the health crisis. The economic recovery is marked by high inflation and military, political, and economic risks that are weighing on growth. There are many parallels with the stagflation of the 1970s. So, should we take a look in the rearview mirror to draw inspiration from the past and define our roadmap for the next decade? Or should we instead look ahead and propose more ambitious, disruptive, and innovative public policies? In this context, the Forums’ Scientific Committee quickly drew a parallel with the blockbuster Back to the Future as the theme for the 2022 edition.
