« Industrial rivalry between Europe, the United States, and China has intensified since the 2000s. The limits of European sovereignty were exposed by the crises of 2008 and 2020 in certain strategic sectors, particularly health, energy, and electronics. This realization has sparked a wave of initiatives aimed at strengthening industrial sovereignty, both at the member state level and at the EU level. It is in this context that the French Presidency of the European Union has been placed under the banner of building European sovereignty, particularly in the industrial sector.
