Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn, Special Advisor to the Governor of the Banque de France and Member of the Strategic Committee of BSI Economics, opened the conference by emphasizing the importance of « promoting education and economic debate, including by hosting the presentation of this first educational book by BSI Economics. »

The book’s nearly 200 pages aim to decipher and explain major issues of concern to oursocieties. This project brought together 17 members of BSI Economics, representing the new generation of economists.

The conference continued with a series of noteworthy presentations on a selection of topics.

Thomas Renault, Senior Lecturer at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University , explained that « the questions chosen are those often asked by friends and family following my thesis on market finance: is it possible to ‘beat the markets’?«

Marine de Talancé, Senior Lecturer at Paris-Est Marne-la-Vallée University, discussed « two social issues that are widely debated in the public sphere and yet often misunderstood. Does immigration cause unemployment? Is the French school system failing?«

Finally, Eugénie Joltreau, a doctoral student at Paris-Dauphine University, wanted to address a « strong citizen initiative: complementary local currencies. »

The turnout confirmed the strong interest in making economic thinking accessible to the general public.

This lively morning concluded with breakfast and discussions among participants.

The book is available today in Dunod bookstores and is already available for pre-order on Amazon and Fnac.
