BSI MAP: Exports from EU countries to the United Kingdom

⚠️Automatic translation pending review by an economist.

Between 2010 and 2014, exports of goods from European Union (EU) member countries to the United Kingdom accounted for an average of 4.3% of their total exports (3.0% on average excluding Ireland). However, there is considerable variation between countries: these exports accounted for 38.2% of Ireland’s total exports, 5% of France’s, 4.5% of Germany’s and 1.1% of Slovakia’s, the country with the lowest share of its total exports.

On June 23, 2016, the day of the referendum in the United Kingdom to decide its fate within the EU (Brexit or Bremain), its European trading partners (but not only them) will be keeping a close eye on the outcome of the vote. In the event of Brexit, the renegotiation of the terms of trade with the EU will likely affect the countries with the largest share of exports to the United Kingdom (Ireland, Sweden, the Netherlands, Belgium, Cyprus, France, and Denmark).
