Summary: As recent debates following the presentation of the plan to combat poverty have shown, poverty remains a complex and multifaceted social issue, the sensitivity of which makes it difficult to simplify. This complexity is reflected institutionally in the multiplicity of measures implemented to tackle poverty and social exclusion, a multiplicity that often undermines their effectiveness and clarity. This short article does not therefore claim to provide an exhaustive overview of these discussions, but rather to put certain aspects, which are sometimes overlooked, into perspective.
