On Monday, November 4, in Lille, Anne-Sophie Alsif participated as an economist and member of BSI Economics in a round table discussion co-organized by the DFCG, Walter France, and BSI Economics as part of the « Le sens de la mesure » (A Sense of Proportion) series of meetings. The economist debated alongsideAntoine Leduc, President of Lille Places Tertiaires and President of Génération MEDEF Lille, on the attractiveness of regions. Below is a brief summary of the conference (source: DFCG, 2019):
« Fiscal policies, strategic choices with competitiveness clusters (Industry, Eurasanté, Euratechnologies), and the development of regional, national, and international mid-sized companies are all levers for developing the attractiveness of a region. More services in the economy (industry, commerce, services, public procurement) create more added value, and therefore more jobs and collective wealth, and accelerate change. The development of these activities is also a factor in innovation.
Regions have long been victims of a certain degree of deindustrialization, losing factories and jobs.
In this context, the industry of the future may provide an opportunity to recreate attractiveness. It refers to a technological revolution that offers new possibilities in terms of production methods and enables us to respond to the new challenges facing industry. It involves more skilled, autonomous, and less arduous industrial work. Regions must seize this new revolution and enhance their brand image.
BSI Economics is partnering as a Knowledge Partner in a series of four regional meetings on « the meaning of measurement » in Bordeaux, Nantes, Lyon, and Lille, organized by the French National Association of Financial and Management Control Directors (DFCG) and Walter France. A summary of the discussions is scheduled to be presented at Financium on December 10 and 11, 2019, in Paris.
